feeling blessed

This past week I was kind of stressing about getting that last little bit of money and God was just telling me to chill out! He said "Brittany, calm down, stop stressing, I'm the one who told you to do this so just believe that I am making a way" and so I calmed down and almost instantly, random people started giving me money and things just started falling into place. It is crazy how God works.

You might be stressing out about something else, but I still want to encourage you all. God called each one of you to do this internship and because of your faithfulness, God will take care of all of your needs. "Dont worry about a thing, instead, pray about everything with thanksgiving and God's peace will come and guard your heart and thoughts" Philippians 4:6-7

better late than never!

Well, I'm clearly not a blogger, so I'm sorry for the delay... but my name is Michelle and I'm pumped for this summer! I just graduated from Wheaton College in IL two days ago, and I'm still struggling to accept the fact that I now have to check the 'unemployed' box on job applications instead of 'student.' I majored in psychology and minored in spanish, but like some of you, that does not mean I'm fluent :)

I am from Connecticut and am not sure what the next step is after this summer. I'd love to eventually work in children's hospitals, but it'll be a process. Interesting factoids about me... I play and coach lacrosse, I love ice cream, and I have a dog fund for the day I can actually get a Bernese Mountain Dog. I've never had one, but I'm already saving! Can't wait...

I've been to the DR a few times, and I did this internship in 2007. My role this summer is slightly ambiguous, but I know I'll be working with you all so that's all that really matters. I'm praying for each of you as we all prepare for whatever this summer holds, it'll be an adventure! Our graduation speaker this weekend, Canon Andrew White (he's super legit, check him out if you want to be amazed), gave the basic message of, "Don't take care, take risks." I am proud of each of you for taking this risk and I feel blessed to be given the opportunity to be a part of it!

Facebook me, yo.

Hi everyone! Im Stefanie Perez and im 20. on wednesday (2 finals from now) I will be done with my sophomore year at the University of Southern California. I'm studying psychology and french. originally i am from a small town in Northern california called Moraga. i've been to jarabacoa before and it really is my favorite place in the world! it has shaped my faith in so many ways.
i went to jarabacoa for a week during the summers after my junior and senior years of high school and actually just went back over this past spring break in march. at the end of the week the little guy i sponsor down there was asking when i would be back next and it broke my heart to say i didnt know (at the time i was pretty sure i was going to do something like  a summer research internship). ive wanted to spend more than a week in the dr since my very first trip and upon coming home in march i wasnt really sure what i was waiting for...sooo im going back!

im so excited to work with and become friends with all of you! the kids down there are hte sweetest and surpise me year after year. theyve been through more than i can ever imagine and yet they still love so generously and openly. itll be so cool for us to be there for a oslid amount of time and as teachers! after reading all of yoru posts it makes me so happy to see how excited you all are and i can't wait to meet you!

Hey everyone!

My name is Landon Martin, I'm finishing up my first year at Biola University in La Mirada, CA which is pretty close to LA. I'm from Orange County, CA and have been down to Monte Plata, Dominican Republic twice during high school! I am pretty stoked to go be an encouragement to these kids who have broken families and need someone to love them and direct them to their eternal Father! I play drums for my church and am looking forward to get some worship going for the kids and even in any down time we have. I am majoring in Accounting and minoring in Spanish and Biblical Studies. Feel free to add me on Facebook and message me or whatnot. Have a great day and I'm excited to get to know all of you guys. Or I guess you would say "y'all." Hey y'all! I hope finals ended well for everyone! I know for me that a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders! Only a year left and I'm a big girl! So crazy how time flies.

I tried adding as many people as I could find on facebook...but there were a few I couldn't find!

I am getting more and more excited every single day! The only thing that stinks is I can't be with you guys the first two weeks! BOO! Summer classes rock....

Have a great May! :) see you all very soon!

Hey guys! :)

So..I am horrible with technology. It took me about 20 minutes to figure out how to post on here. So bear with me! Sorry it has taken me so long to post!

I am Cara Parkinson though! I am going to be a senior at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, a small town about two hours south of St. Louis. I'll be in school for an extra semester though. I changed my major quite a few times. I finally decided on Child Development though and I am EXTREMELY pumped about it. Kids are my passion :) I work at a daycare with a class of 4 and 5 year olds and I look forward to work every single day! I have lived in Cape Girardeau since I was in the second grade. It gets kind boring, but God has blessed me with awesome people in my life this past year and it has been great! I love the color purple and I'm a very, very laid back person. 98% of the time you can find me in sweat pants and t shirts. I like to be comfy! I have a serious sweet tooth which is a problem because I am a Type 1 Diabetic. I'm really horrible at describing myself so, please ask questions!

t'sI crazy to look back a year from now and look at where my life was then. If someone had told me I would be going to the Domincan Republic I would have laughed in their face. I am seriously pumped to get down to the Dominican Republic!! I can't wait to meet ya'll and bond and grow together and see where God takes us all this summer! :):)

Let me know of any prayer request for ya'll I can send up! Praying for our team constantly!!

Add me on Facebook and Twitter (CareBear_20)!!

i am a nerd

AND  PROUD OF IT!

but seriously, funny story...

I go to a small community college right now just to get my pre reqs out of the way so I am not really taking any classes that I am interested in. So in my free time, I study my spanish dictionary. There is a cute little bayou running through campus and so on pretty days, which happen a lot here, i love to sit on the levee and study. So, the other day, a few people were walking past me and this girl was like, GUH, WHY IS YA READIN THA DICTIONARY?? YOU SOME KINDA GENIUS? hahhah and so i explained that im going out of the country and she was like OH, YOU CRAZY...

it was funny. so i wanted to tell you.

y'all have any funny stories?

So excited!

Hi y'all!

My name is Olivia Calandro and I am from Arlington, Texas. In the fall I will be a junior at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN (I don't know if y'all have heard what is going on at Vanderbilt with the religious life, but it would be great if y'all could be praying for the hearts of the administration as they try to kick the Christian organizations off campus next year). I am studying Special Education and Early Childhood Education, which pretty much shows I love kids and teaching! That is why I am so excited to get to use that passion and my passion for Jesus in the DR this summer. I have never done anything like this and I've never been to the DR, so this will all be very new to me, but I know this is where God wants me to be this summer! I don't know any Spanish really, so I will be trying to learn a bit this summer before heading to the DR, but I am also excited to learn from all of y'all who know Spanish!

And I got baptized two weeks ago which was amazing, so I can't wait to share my story of what Jesus is doing in my life with y'all! I can't wait to meet y'all!

In Him who loves us!
Olivia
